Welcome to Algood Middle School, home of the Redskins. Located in Putnam County, Tennessee, Algood Middle School is a 5-8 school serving the students of the Algood community and Putnam County. EIGHTH GRADE CELEBRATION CEREMONY - May 21
Parents and guardians of eighth grade students are invited to join us for a celebration ceremony honoring our eighth graders at 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 21, in the AMS gymnasium. We will also enjoy a potluck breakfast afterward.

SUMMER BREAK APPROACHING
Monday, May 21, will be our last full day of school. Students will not report to school on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday while faculty and staff members engage in professional development opportunities. The building will be open on Friday morning, May 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

DENTAL AND DOCTOR EXCUSES
Just a reminder to parents that dental and doctor notes do not excuse a student for the whole day unless the student is sick or has major dental work done. If students go to the dentist for a cleaning, the note will cover approximately 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after the appointment time unless the appointment is out of town. The doctor must send a note excusing the student for the entire day. Physicals will only for 30 minutes before the appointment and 30 minutes after the doctor finishes with the student.

DOORS LOCKED DURING THE DAY

For the safety of our students, after 8:00 A.M., all of the side doors in the school building will be locked. If you wish to visit the school, please come through the front door and sign in at the office. The front door is the door visible in the photo at the top of this page. A visitor parking lot is available near the front door.

PUTNAM COUNTY -- Next week two Putnam County Odyssey of the Mind teams will be headed to the World Finals at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

ALGOOD -- There's quite a distance between Suzanne Swain's eighth grade classroom at Algood Middle School and her former career working as a graphic designer and animator in California.
