PURPOSE       (What will the activity accomplish?)The purpose of this lesson is to motivate students to increase physical activity by using pedometers to record number of steps. The use of PE CentralŐs Log IT will provide students a system to keep record of steps, set personal goals, check improvement, and compare scores to others.

 

DESCRIPTION      (A summary of what the students will do.) The students will wear pedometers to record steps during physical education class beginning October 1 and ending May 1. The students will use computers to record their scores in the Log-It program. The students will use the map of the United States to track their progress.

 

PREPARATION     (What the teacher needs to do to prepare for the lesson) The teacher will provide pedometers for each student to wear during class.  The teacher will provide instruction for students to register onto Log-It and instruction on how to record steps each week.
